Our policies

At Abbeymead Under 5's Playgroup  the safety, happiness, and wellbeing of every child in our care is our highest priority. We maintain transparent, comprehensive policies that uphold the highest standards of early years care, ensuring every child thrives in a secure and nurturing setting.

Key playgroup policies

Here you will find clear overviews of our most essential day-to-day  guidelines. You are welcome to review the policy summaries below, download our full documentation, or request printed copies directly from our team at any time.

Safeguarding and child protection

Our safeguarding policy outlines how we ensure a safe, secure, and supportive environment for all children. Every member of staff undergoes a DBS check and regular safeguarding training to protect the welfare of every child.

Admissions and enrolment

We welcome all children into our playgroup family. Our admissions process is fair, inclusive, and transparent, ensuring smooth transitions for children joining both our Rising 3s and Pre-School groups.

Positive behaviour management

We encourage kindness, empathy, and positive social interaction through gentle praise and clear guidance, helping children develop emotional resilience and respectful relationships with peers and staff.

Special educational needs and disabilities (SEND)

Our dedicated SEN support ensures an inclusive setting where children of all abilities receive tailored attention, tailored play strategies, and the support necessary to flourish at their own pace.

Administering medicine and health

We have clear, careful procedures in place for the storage and administration of prescribed medication, maintaining rigorous logs and parental consents to safeguard your child's physical health.

Illness and infection control

To prevent the spread of infectious illnesses, we follow strict exclusion periods and hygiene routines, ensuring a healthy and hygienic environment for all children and staff
